Blissful carmelized onions

Carmelized onions are such a treat. They're great on pizza, as a garnish to soups, on a cheese/cracker tray, on salads/sandwiches and so many other things.

I use yellow onions as they have a high sugar content and carmelize faster than other onions.
.
Start with a large onion and cut in half and then cut into half-rings so that they pieces are long.
.
Add some butter or oil to a large frying pan and heat until it sizzles. Add the onion slices and stir to coat with oil. Add a pinch of salt to the pan to help with the carmelization.
.
Allow the onions to stick to the pan a little. If you feel they're sticking too much, add a little white wine or broth or even water.
.
Turn the heat to low and let the onions turn golden brown. Stir them occasionally and after 30 mins you'll have a delicious treat!
.
Enjoy!
